IT MAY be some time before the electric charging vehicle points promised to Holsworthy are installed after Torridge District Council’s service partner discovered a problem with the proposed site.
Holsworthy was to be the first town in Northern Devon to install a rapid charging electric point. Town clerk Vanessa Saunders informed councillors during the full council meeting on Wednesday, March 6, that the electric charging points that were due to be installed in Manor Car Park won’t go ahead until a new location is found: “A new location is needed for the electric parking points in Manor Car Park as someone got it wrong.”
In response a Torridge District Council spokesperson said: “Unfortunately when our service partner came to do the installation they discovered problems with the underground services that meant the location didn’t conform to Western Power Distribution (WPD) guidelines. This may also be the case for our Sydney House Car Park in Torrington. A new location within the same car parks will now have to be determined but the installations will still be able to go ahead. We do not have a new date for the install yet.”
They added: “In the meantime work is progressing at our Bideford and Appledore locations.”
A site survey was scheduled for yesterday (Wednesday) and it is hoped a solution can be found. Project officer Mike Ford confirmed: “I was booked in for a site visit this Tuesday [March 5] to find a new location within the Manor Car Park however the site manager unfortunately fell ill, causing another delay. I am however booked in for another site survey — fingers crossed — next Wednesday [March 13]!”
