EVERY era of motoring history was represented at Bude Motor Club’s classic and motor show, held in conjunction with the rugby club on Sunday.

The show this year raised funds for the Friends of Stratton Hospital. With free entry to the show, visitors were generously giving donations to the cause.

There were a large number of vehicles — 103 motorbikes and more than 200 cars and vans. Cars ranged from a 1919 Model A Ford, which travelled under its own steam, to ‘slammed’ VW campers. A Lamborghini Aventador was on show, too.

A large crowd attended throughout the day supplied with food and entertainment by local stallholders and the stewards and staff of the rugby club.

Throughout the day a Taw and Torridge vintage bus ran trips to and from Widemouth Bay and all the money collected from fares were donated to the Friends of Stratton Hospital.

Bude Motor Club joint founder Steve White, who leads the organising committee for the show, expressed his thanks to everyone who assisted, including all the sponsors.

Steve said: “Next year the show will have reached its 10 years and it’s all for local charities. People enjoyed the show that much they kept coming up to me and expressing their thanks and how much they enjoyed it.”

A spokesperson for the League of Friends of Stratton Hospital said how much they appreciated the opportunity to make a bucket collection at the event and an amazing sum of around £1,760 was collected.

“A big thank you to all who contributed and a special thank you to the gentleman who ran trips on the vintage bus and donated his takings to the charity. Thank you very much to Bude Motor Club for inviting us to join in their superb day.”
