ADDITIONAL volunteers are sought for a community speed watch initiative in Launceston.
The scheme is being set up by Launceston Community Network Panel in conjunction with Devon and Cornwall Police.
Town councillor Paul O’Brien, who is vice-chair of the network panel, appealed for more volunteers at the full Launceston Town Council meeting on Tuesday, May 22.
He said: “The number we have is eight, which is fairly awkward — normally these little teams work in threes.
“If there are any more, the more people we get, the less frequent will be the need for them to go out and point speed guns at motorists.
“We don’t seem to see a great deal of speed enforcement in the area — it’s basically down to us now.”
