MORE than 200 saplings have been planted in North Hill thanks to the work of the local council and local school children.

On Wednesday, November 22, North Hill Parish Council were joined by a keen army of eight children and parents from Coads Green Primary School, as well as county councillor Adrian Parsons.

The group came together to plant 211 saplings, supplied by the Woodland Trust, at North Hill playing field around the fence of the cemetery.

Not only did this serve as an opportunity to help the environment, the children also got the chance to learn all about different types of trees, with each variety having it’s own colour category. It also wouldn’t be a fun day outside without getting your hands dirty!

Cllr Parsons said: “This is the second such event and the councillors really appreciated the help from the children who collected each sapling from the gazebo manned by councillor Richard Randall.

“As thanks to the children they enjoyed time on the play equipment followed by drinks and biscuits.”
