AFTER 30 years in business, chopping the locks of Launceston residents, ‘Acutabove’ Hair Salon is to be rented out to another prospective hairdressing business.
Owner Sarah Boundy posted on social media: “After being unsuccessful in finding a manager for our business Acutabove, it is with regret we have decided to rent the premises to hopefully another hairdressing business.”
Many of their current clientele will be sad to see the hair salon go as they have been visiting Acutabove since it opened above ‘Truscotts’ garage on the Newport Industrial Estate, Launceston in 1986. The salon then relocated, more than two decades ago, to its current premises on Madford Lane in the town centre.
The salon will now be offered up as a going concern for another hairdressing business to take on. Sarah wrote: “Many of our guests have been visiting our salon since we opened above Truscotts in 1986 and I hope will continue to support the stylists and a new company. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to own their own salon in Launceston.
“After being in business for 30 years this has been a difficult decision but as another Launceston business lady recently said ‘all good things must eventually come to an end’.”
Sarah moved to Somerset nine years ago and set up a salon to mirror her flagship in Launceston. She explained that ‘regretfully it has become too difficult to be responsible for two businesses with so many miles between’ but that she is thankful for the loyal support her team has given her over the years, adding: “I would like to thank my family, friends, business associates and the loyal customers who have supported us over the years and made it possible for me to start a new life in another county where I am very happy.”
l ONE of Launceston’s long established suppliers of greetings cards, gift items and party accessories will be moving premises at the end of May — but has reassured the public they will not be closing down for good.
A post was made on social media by owners of ‘Pat’s Greetings Cards’, Norman and Julie Allen, informing the public of the business’ planned move, they said: “Pat’s Greetings Cards will be moving to another shop premises in the town centre. Details are currently confidential but will be made public as soon as possible.”
They ask that the public ‘do not quiz’ their staff for more information at this time because they do not know details of the move and have reassured the public that they will not be closing down, just moving.
