A COMMUNITY is hoping to make people aware of potential thefts in their area, after money from a charity box was stolen recently.

On July 3, local resident to Crackington Haven, Allan Birt, wrote on a post on the Crackington Haven Appreciation Group page on Facebook, stating that the Burden Trust collection box, situated in the Burden car park in the parish, was recently stolen, with part of the wall it was fixed onto being damaged in the process.

The Burden Trust raises funds for local community projects, organisations and good causes.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were notified that on Monday, July 2 a theft reportedly took place at the Burden Trust car park in Crackington Haven. It was reported that money had been taken from inside a charity box.”
