FIVE gravestones in Holsworthy cemetery have been deemed 'dangerous' following a recent inspection.
Torridge District Council officers carry out inspections on all cemeteries in the district to maintain its duty of care to the public.
Following its recent visit to Holsworthy cemetery five gravestones were highlighted as a possible risk to the public and a safety notice has been issued.
The notice said: 'For reasons of safety, any memorials in a dangerous condition may be laid flat on the grave. The cost of essential maintenance or remedial work to the memorial is ultimately the responsibility of the family.'
