PUPILS and staff from St Petroc’s School had a visit from a very important person last week — David Humphreys, General Secretary of the Methodist Independent Schools Trust (MIST).

St Petroc’s joined MIST in 2015 and it has been supporting the school in its development since then.

The purpose of the visit was for Mr Humphreys to see the positive changes around the school which include smart new signs and carpets, newly decorated classrooms, a refresh of the school branding and investment into a new nursery room and a brand new Art and DT facility.

Headmaster Daniel Thornburn said: “The support of MIST and Shebbear College has been absolutely wonderful. I have been delighted by the positive progress that has been made in a very short space of time.

“The investment in facilities and teaching is really beginning to pay off and the pupils are experiencing, first hand, the benefits in their lessons.

“It was great to be able to show David Humphreys around again and to point out to him just what a huge difference being part of MIST has made to St Petroc’s.”
