THUNDEROUS storms preceded Launceston Agricultural Show on Thursday, August 25 with flood warnings washing through the county. However, the return of the sunshine on the morning of the event heralded the reception of over 6,000 visitors through the gates at the Kennards House showfield.
The rain may have worried some, what with the cancellation of last year's show, but the sun truly shone for the 124th annual exhibition.
Friendly volunteers at the gates greeted the swarm of visitors as they piled into the grounds. Faced first with lazy cattle and woollen sheep basking in the warm early light, people were soon perusing the great variety of trade stalls and hospitality marquees.
"The layout is really good this year," said Nicola Wilks, of Launceston, who had brought her family to the show. "The weather has been really kind."
