South Petherwin Methodist Church was beautifully decorated for the Harvest Festival service held on Sunday morning, October 2.
The service was led by the new minister Rev John Haley and was accompanied by his wife Janet.
He introduced himself, as this was his first service taken at South Petherwin.
Well known Harvest hymns were sung including, ‘To thee, O Lord our hearts we raise’ and ‘We plough the fields and scatter’.
The organist was Mary Stoneman.
Testimony and prayer request were invited.
Angela Noakes read the first lesson Psalm 67: 1-7, Rev John Haley read the second lesson from Galatians 6: 7 – 10 and from which he based his sermon.
The service concluded with the hymn, ‘Come ye faithful people come’.
Donations had been invited for the Launceston Food Bank and the table was laden with food gifts through the generosity of the congregation.
These were delivered to the Food Bank the following day where they were gratefully received and the beautiful flowers were distributed among the congregation.
