Creativity spilled from the Women’s Institute tent for this year’s theme — ‘The Beginnings’.

Members of Bude, Jacobstow, Holsworthy and Marhamchurch clubs were tasked with creating items in common with the WI’s first meeting of 1915 held in Wales.

Organiser of the marquee this year, was Bude Women’s Institute.

President of the club, Cynthia May said: “It’s been a steep learning curve, but we have done and it all looks fine. The standard of entries if very high, as you’d expect from the WI.”

Jacobstow WI won first place with its cubicle.

Member, Jen Spettigue, said they were ‘delighted’ and it was well-worth the hardwork beforehand.

“We meet at home and decide what we are going to do and then put it altogether at 6am this morning. We are delighted with the result, we entered Royal Cornwall this year as well.”

She and Cynthia encouraged other WIs to showcase their talent next year, adding: “We encourage all the lovely WIs out there to please come have a look and join us. If nothing else we get together and have some fun.”

Jen said the rain failed to dampen her day, adding “The weather is a huge part of it, it brings in the people and creates a buzz, but I enjoy it whatvever!”
