THE new Lidl in Bude was opened by the mayor Lea Deely and deputy mayor Frank Partridge, who also had a tour of the new store.

Ms Deely said: “I was happy to open the new Lidl store in Bude on Thursday.

“The new store will provide a significant addition to the retail offer in Bude and Stratton. I believe it will complement rather than adversely affect the many excellent local shops in the town centre.

“It is pleasing to note that the store provides forty jobs and that all the staff will be paid the living wage and no zero hours contracts are being used.

“I understand that most of the jobs have been filled locally. This can only be a good thing for the town. I wish Lidl’s every success in this new store.”

The new store is located at Sandpiper Road.
