AS A RESULT of a raffle held at their recent Christmas charity lunch and other donations, the members of Granville Masonic Lodge were able to present two cheques of £100 each to local charities.

Ray Shaddick, chairman of the Bude and Stratton committee of Cancer Research UK, and a lodge member, thanked the lodge for the donation and said that every penny is vital in the work done to combat cancer. He was most grateful for all those who worked hard to make the charity lunch a success.

Bude Food Bank has recently moved to a new premises on Berries Avenue. The manager, Sue Jarvis, was delighted with the donation from the lodge and said that the users of the food bank were local people with a genuine need and that during November, a total of 63 families had been helped.

She also said that every penny received was put to good use locally and often people suddenly found themselves in very difficult circumstances, which were beyond their control. She thanked the lodge for its unexpected support.
