THE police visited Holsworthy and Rural CATS (Community Action Through Sport) Youth Club last week to help its members mark their precious or valuable items.

The police and PCSO officers are regular visitors to the Holsworthy and Rural CATS Youth Club and attend many of their volunteer-led sessions.

Holsworthy PCSO Mark James, who attended the session, said: “We attended the youth club on Tuesday, and offered property marking for scooters, bikes and electronic devices.

“The Holsworthy Police team try and attend the session every week for as long as our duties allow, as it offers us a great opportunity to engage with some of the younger members of Holsworthy’s community.

“The sessions are becoming increasingly popular, with the younger age group session being particularly well attended.”

If property is marked then it can be more easily identified and returned if lost or stolen.

It also makes items more difficult for thieves to sell on and often reduces their resale value as items can be more easily traced.

Holsworthy and Rural CATS is a volunteer-led community branch of the Community Action Through Sport charity and meets every Tuesday to provide two sessions, one from 3.15pm to 5.15pm for Years 6-9 and another from 5.30pm to 8pm for Years 10 and 11.
