THE Bude group of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust last week were pleased to welcome Robert Durrant to talk about seashores.
Robert retired to North Devon and became involved in observing and recording the marine life found in the rock pools of local beaches, even discovering a new anemone, the Fairy Anemone.
He set up an aquarium to better observe sea creatures and showed fascinating pictures of anemones attacking each other and a series of photographs on the development of a dogfish inside a mermaid’s purse, through to its release into the sea when it was several weeks old.
Next month is the seasonal photographic and social evening, an opportunity for members to show their own photographs and to enter a hard copy photograph (size up to 8”x10”) in a friendly competition. All are welcome — [email protected]
