MARGARET Frost will be collecting people’s spare pennies over the summer to raise as much as possible for local causes.
Margaret told the Post: “I always raise every year for Bude Town Band, because this year we’re about to start building the new town band hall. However, I would also like to raise money for a local charity, Jay’s Aim.
“The fundraising is for a family that lost their son, so what we’re doing is raising as much money as possible to put defibrillators around the local area. They have already put seven into Bude, which is fantastic. We want to try to help so we can continue this. They also hold cardiac screening in the young, so it’s all for a great cause.”
Jay’s Aim is a charity set up in 2017 by the family of Jay Osborne, who died suddenly and unexpectedly from a cardiac arrest. Unbeknown to Jay, he had an undiagnosed hereditary heart condition known as ARVC (arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy). The aim of the charity is to ‘assess, inform and make a difference’ to reduce the number of young people who fall victim to sudden cardiac death in the South West.
Margaret will be raising money all summer at her tea garden in the picturesque spot of Northcott Mouth, with a collection bucket available for people to drop their spare pennies into for two great local causes.
