A BUDE man has shaved off his bushy beard to raise money for Bude Carnival and Bude-Stratton Folk Festival.

Stu Bell organised a sponsored 'shear and shave' at the Falcon Hotel, Bude, on Monday (May 27).

Stu said: "I can't be as active as I used to be, and so I said to myself I need a shave, and I need to raise money."

Regular fund-raiser Stu, who has had a beard for over 30 years, has been growing his facial hair for over a year for the sponsored shave.

Friend Una Walsh said: "I have known Stu for several years, and this is the first time I have seen him. We don't think the locals are going to recognise him."

Donations are still being counted and payments can be dropped into Bude Garden Machinery, at Flexbury, or Banford's 'Toy Shop With A Difference'.
