THE Friends of Lanteglos Church are desperately appealing for donations to help overcome some major structural problems at St Julitta’s Church.

With the restoration project at the Norman church continuing, a rotten main beam was discovered in July, with the Friends since stating: “It is worse than ‘oh dear’”.

The beam was holding up the tower roof and has since been investigated. It has been found to be a ‘disaster’ and potentially unsafe, with most of the main beam being rotten, as well as the newer support beams going into the wall either side of the main beam. Slates had to be removed from the roof to discover how bad the situation really is.
