CORNWALL Wildlife Trust's Tamar Group, based at Bude, paid a visit to Lundy Island recently.

Eleven members boarded the Oldenburg en route to Lundy in quite rough seas.

Simon Dell and Alan Rowland led the group to explore the southern area of the island looking at the historic and natural environment.

The endemic Lundy Cabbage was still in flower and most braved the perilous footpath under Marisco Castle to explore Benson's Cave where the eponymous MP kept his prisoners hidden.

The weather was kind and many buildings were explored and the varied flora and fauna were seen and identified.
