TORRIDGE Voluntary Services (TTVS) have been awarded money from the ‘Lottery Awards for All’ programme — with their next workshop being held in Halwill at the Junction Inn on May 26.
The aim is to build the knowledge and understanding of ‘equality and diversity’ amongst volunteers, community groups and organisations across Torridge.
They hope to support those who attend in the practical application of equality and diversity through day-to-day voluntary action.
TTVS will bring a specialist training provider, who will offer six workshops — four of which will focus on volunteers.
In these workshops they will look at a volunteers roles and how they can practically apply the principles daily.
The other two workshops will have a focus on organisational governance, culture and delivery within voluntary and community groups.
In additions, TTVS will provide development support for voluntary and community organisations. These will include, and take the form of, equality and diversity ‘health checks’ and support for organisational change.
The first of six workshops took place in Bideford.
The next workshop, aimed at volunteers will take place in Halwill, at the Junction Inn on May 26, from 10.30am to 1pm.
