LIBERAL Democrats in the House of Lords voted this week to protect the Cornish border by stopping plans for new Parliamentary constituency boundaries that would straddle the Tamar, creating a Launceston, Bude and Bideford Constituency.'
Lib Dem Peers voted against the plans in order to postpone the changes in boundaries until after the next General Election. The House of Lords vote was won by 300 to 231.
The plans are expected to be debated by the House of Commons on January 29.
Cornish Liberal Democrat MPs Dan Rogerson (North Cornwall) Andrew George and Stephen Gilbert say they will continue to vote against a Devonwall constituency, with Liberal Democrat Leader and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg saying that he wants all Lib Dem MPs and Government Ministers to vote against the Conservatives and against the plans when they come before the House of Commons.
