THE Launceston Then! website recently celebrated its 150,000th visitor, which for a local history website of a Cornish market town, is quite a remarkable figure.

The site, begun in 2014 by Roger Pyke with research by Jim ‘The Oracle’ Edwards, now has 650 pages crammed full of useful information and images of Launceston and its district and is well established with an affiliated Facebook group with nearly 4,500 members.

A recent online fundraising campaign to raise £1,000 for a computer backup system was very successful, reaching its target within one week, and a humbled Roger expressed his thanks to everyone who donated for their kind contributions.

The money raised also means there was some left over to purchase a portable scanner so if anyone reading this knows of any photographs that would be of interest to Roger, they are asked to contact him at [email protected] or on 01566 776998.
