MEMBERS of the public had the chance to find out more about the heritage of Launceston recently.
The town council opened the Town Hall and Guildhall on Friday, September 9, and there were guided tours of the town’s churches and the Priory ruins on Saturday, September 10.
Saturday was part of the National Heritage Days event, where historic monuments and buildings are open to visitors, in particular those normally closed to the public.
People were able to find out more about Southgate Arch, where town council staff had put together a display with the help of town historians, Arthur Wills, Jim Edwards and Rob Tremain. This showed the history of the arch as well as pictures and photographs of the arch through the ages.
