Councillors Adam Paynter and Mike Nicholls have joined together to provide £6,000 to allocate to projects that benefit their local community and are calling on local community groups and organisations to come up with ideas to help them spend it.

Cornwall County Council has introduced a new Member Community Grant Scheme under which County Councillors have each been allocated £3,000 to help fund projects or activities that benefit their local communities.

Community groups and organisations are being invited to apply to their local county councillor for one off grants of between £100 and £1,000 for projects that benefit local residents.

VULNERABLE

These could include activities for vulnerable children or adults, or young people, facilities for older people, improved community facilities, local environmental projects or community safety schemes.

Mike Nicholls and Adam Paynter have decided to pool their grants to make maximum use of their £6,000 and want local groups to contact them with their projects and ideas.

"Many local groups are doing wonderful work in their local communities with small amounts of money," says Adam Paynter.
