LION Zara Dyer and her partner Lion Ian Brown are walking from John O’Groats to Land’s End raising funds to help sufferers of brain injuries with their recovery and rehabilitation.

They have been assisted by Lions Clubs and Lions during their journey through Scotland and England.

Lion Zara suffered a stroke, aged 29 years, whilst driving her car in Grand Cayman that resulted in a mercy flight by air ambulance to Miami, Florida.

She had six bleeds on the brain, various fractures to neck, shoulder, back and upper part of the body.

She was just like a very young child, so had be taught to swallow, talk, walk and the list goes on. All this treatment took place after her parents were told that she would not survive.

If you wish to follow her story and recovery, please visit the website www.3millionsteps.org.

She still suffers from various aliments but now she has her eyesight back, she can talk and walk with aids but will always suffer from some form of disability.

She is a very determined young lady and decided that as part of her recovery she would walk from John O’Groats to Land’s End with the aid of her sticks.

Entering Cornwall marked the ‘end-in-sight’ of this mammoth walk.

Lions Peter and Christine Rowe met up with Zara and Ian, when they arrived with their camper-van at Trethorne Golf Club.

Previously they had walked from Okehampton to Lewdown and were taken back to Okehampton by the Lions of Okehampton.

They took them back to Lewdown, so that they could complete the walk to Launceston.

Then they were going to Minions with the van, so Lions Peter and Christine collected them and brought them back to Launceston, so they could complete this part of the walk.

They were able to park the camper-van at Trethorne Golf Club and the Launceston Lions treated them to meals at the golf club.
