THE Lions club of Launceston has done its bit to support struggling families in the local area.

Foodbanks across the country rely on donations from the public in order to provide support to those who need it most within our communities. Often these are food, drink and hygiene products, however, Launceston Lions Club has donated another essential item to support Foodbank users.

The club has donated a number of can openers to Launceston Foodbank. These will enable families to open cans of food if they do not own a can opener, and the tins they do not have a pull tab.

This is particularly important given that many of the food items on offer at the Foodbank are tinned, in order to maximise shelf life.
