PEOPLE in and around Launceston will be given an update about the future of Launceston Library on March 22 at the Community Network Panel meeting.
Vice-chair of the panel, county councillor Vivian Hall, said it was ‘especially important’ that members of the public attend and speak about ‘the future of the library, and where they see such educational and social provision in the future’.
At the meeting, the panel will be reviewing its priorities, some of which include health provision, road and broadband infrastructure and neighbourhood planning, and setting new ones to focus on over the next year.
The agenda also includes discussion of the Local Devolution Fund and how it can be used to help local councils and organisations take on the running of services and property in the network area.
The meeting will also review the Cornwall Councillor Community Chest grants awarded in the network area.
Twenty-nine grants totalling £10,000 have been made to local community groups and has attracted £60,000 of match funding.
Cllr Hall added: “Everyone is welcome to come to the meeting and learn more about the work of the community network.
“We’re particularly proud of the way local community groups have used their Cornwall Councillor Community Chest grants to bring in further funding for such a wide range of projects.”
The Community Network Panel meets quarterly to discuss topics such as: anti-social behaviour, economic development, the environment, community planning, regeneration, conservation, community safety, and transport and highway issues.
The panel includes all five of the Cornwall Councillors for the area, and representatives of 16 different parishes in the community.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday March 22 from 7pm until 9pm at the Guildhall, Launceston Town Hall.
