A CARE-provider based in Launceston has been named as one of the best in the region after being nominated for a prestigious award.
Angels In Disguise AID Homecare, a local provider of ‘compassionate, merit-based home care’, has been officially named as a regional finalist for Consumer Services StartUp of the Year at the 2026 South West UK StartUp Awards.
Selected from hundreds of entries across the region, the nomination validates the firm's rapid impact on the South West community since its launch. The award, which is expert-judged and based entirely on merit, recognises businesses that demonstrate exceptional service, innovation, and community value.
The organisation says that the announcement has come at a pivotal time, after it recently celebrated its first anniversary by opening a new headquarters in the heart of Launceston.
On top of this, beyond its standard care services, the team is currently on a "Mobility Mission," fundraising to bring a second wheelchair-accessible vehicle to the area to combat rural isolation for their clients.
Trudy Herdwick, founder and care manager of Angels In Disguise, has said that the award has helped to validate the work that the team does on a day-to-day basis.
She said: "Being recognised like this in the South West means the world to us because it validates the hard work we put into supporting our local community every single day.
“We don't just provide care; we bridge the gap to independence. Our goal for 2026 is to ensure no one in our town feels isolated, and this nomination gives us a wonderful platform to highlight the importance of dignified, expert-led support at home."
If successful at the regional final, the "Angels" will head to the national stage at @ideas-fest in September, held at the prestigious Champneys Tring.
