Launceston Town Council have decided to implement further measures to support the guidance to help control the spread of COVID-19.

The town council have decided to close the Visitor Information Centre as of Monday, March 23, as well as closing the town’s library. According to LTC, the staff attempted to maintain the library service but they were unable to enforce appropriate social distancing advised by the government. However, users will still be able to access BorrowBox – online e-books, audio books and Press Reader – newspapers and magazines, for free with a library card. Their renewal hotline is 0845 607 6119.

With the exception of the Westgate Car Park, all public toilet facilities will be closed from the evening of Monday, March 23. Due to the limited staffing levels the Town Council will not be able to maintain the cleaning levels at all sites if they were to remain open.

The Town Council office continues to be manned and will be able to answer any queries on 01566 773693 or by emailing [email protected]

Launceston Town Council is also urging local residents to follow the government guidance and practice social distancing to help control the spread of COVID-19, support the National Health Service and protect the vulnerable.
