THE 37th Launceston Steam and Vintage Rally saw a variety of exhibits on display over the bank holiday weekend.

Organiser, Donna Ronan, was pleased to see members of the public flock to the site at Five Lanes, near Launceston, to take a look at the exhibits while participating in a range of activities to suit all ages.

Donna, who admitted she and the other organisers were still recovering from the weekend and had indulged in a well-deserved lie in the following Tuesday morning, said: “It went really well, we had a great weekend. It was very well attended and there were lots of exhibits.

“We were even visited by ITV and were on the news last night [Monday], so that was good to have them here for the afternoon.”

In their 37th year, the rally is still a traditional event, welcoming a variety of attractions, including live music, activities for children, a range of stalls, a stunt display by Launceston Motorcycle Club and more. However, organisers were keen to offer a little more for everyone this year.

“We had a wider range of things for people. We wanted to try to involve local businesses to promote what’s going on in the area, and had lots of things going on for different age groups.”

Zoe Miller, whose boyfriend Sam Wooldridge had participated in the motorcycle stunt display, said the event was a great success, despite the uncertainty of the weather. “It was a good event and we enjoyed it because Sam loves bikes! There’s a lot involved in the bike side of things. People are there days before the actual event, setting it up and getting pallets and things to ride over!”

This year, the rally raised funds for a number of local charities and causes, including Liskeard Cadets, Tregadillett Guides, Bobby’s Little Angels, United Response in Cornwall, Launceston Day Service, Launceston First Aid Volunteers and True 600 Challenge.
