A NEW concept to encourage people to buy their goods in Launceston is being devised by the town's Chamber of Commerce.
Around 50 of Launceston's businesses have agreed to become part of the initiative which will allow shoppers to receive a special offer in store.
Launceston Chamber of Commerce is the founder of the scheme which it hopes will encourage people to spend in the town's shops.
A free card will be circulated to Launceston area households (in the PL15 postcode area) and a separate permanent card will allow people outside of the town to take advantage of the benefits. This card will be valid for a year, but a cost has yet to be decided by the committee.
Paul Loft, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, said the offers could be anything, from a ten per cent discount to a free cup of tea and a biscuit.
