St Stephen’s Community Academy have been proudly doing their bit to protect the environment.

The school has created a ‘Sustainability Plan’ which hopes to reduce waste and encourage the recycling of key items within school.

Maura Furber, headteacher at the school, said: “We already recycle and reuse plastics, paper, cardboard, pens, toothpaste tubes, old brushes  and boxes, batteries  and ink toner cartridges.

“Our links with the community recycling groups is growing and we have now the facility to collect old cans on the school site. (Thank you to our Y6 Steering Group representatives for sharing our collection area).”

Students and staff also urge parents to send in any cans you have at home as well as any of the items mentioned above.
