LAUNCESTON CCTV and Launceston Police have worked together to solve a series of fraud offences in the town. It had been reported to police that on February 17 and 20 a female had entered various stores in the town. She then took items from display and damaged them, before walking directly to the cash desk and demanded a refund.

A total of 11 alleged offences were committed by this woman. CCTV was viewed from one of the shops and a description was given by the victims. Using this information, the Launceston Town CCTV was viewed and a woman was located and tracked through the town.

CCTV captured her getting out of a car. The car was traced to an address in West Cornwall. A woman linked to this address was arrested on Monday, and is currently on bail after helping with further enquiries.

Launceston Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Johnny Haynes said: "This was a perfect example of teamwork. Launceston CCTV volunteers worked tirelessly in searching hours of footage.

"Various other police departments worked closely together... Had we not had good quality town centre CCTV, we would most likely have been unable to identify a suspect."
