LAUNCESTON man, George Cooke, who was part of the team who helped locate the Mary Rose, has visited the ship for the first time.
The Mary Rose was Henry VIII's warship. After serving for 33 years in several wars and after being substantially rebuilt, she saw her last action on July 1545.
While leading the attack on the galleys of a French invasion fleet, she sank in the Solent.
As reported in June in the 'Post,' George, who is now 92-years-old, was part of a team led by diver and historian Alexander McKee, who discovered the ship in September 1966.
The team uncovered 19,000 artefacts and remains of many of the ship's crew, including the crew's dog.
