A COMMEMORATIVE bench has been unveiled on the corner of the Link Road and Landlake Road in Launceston in memory of the creator of Launceston in Bloom.

Margaret Wills, who sadly passed away last year, was the chair of Launceston In Bloom since its inception twenty years ago and was responsible for the millennium avenue of 100 oak trees along the Link Road. She also organised the floral display on the war memorial every summer, the granite troughs in the square and the hanging baskets in the town.

The bench was unveiled by the mayor Cllr Dave Gordon, deputy mayor Cllr Leighton Penhale and the chairman of Launceston In Bloom John Ellison on Monday evening, July 29. Thanks were expressed to AC Prout Ltd for their help.

Mr Ellison said that Margaret gave so much to the town and will be sadly missed: “She will be a hard act to follow but I will do my best.”
