A CORNISH florist has shown their skills on the national stage after being invited to display at Fleurs de Villes at Kew Gardens.

Donna Cornish is known in and around Launceston for her impressive floral displays and beautiful flowers as part of her business Flowers by Donna.

However, she was thrilled to be able to showcase those talent on the national stage recently when she was invited to Fleurs de Villes Downton Abbey exhibition at Kew Gardens. As the retail director for the British Florist Association, Donna was commissioned alongside two fellow British Florist Association members to create a piece for the event.

Speaking on the opportunity, Donna said: “They had wanted London florists initially since it was at Kew Gardens, however they ended up choosing three of us from across the country which was really special and a huge honour.

“It was a rollercoaster of emotions over the weekend but having these two ladies by my side made for the best team to be part of, and we loved every minute.”

The internationally acclaimed fresh floral exhibition celebrates the much anticipated release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale which arrives in cinemas September 12. On display for a limited time, the spectacular floral showcase took place in a grand indoor marquee set on the lawns next to Kew Palace at Kew Gardens.

Visitors were transported into the world of Downton Abbey through an enchanting collection of Fleurs de Villes' famous fresh floral mannequins inspired by the unforgettable characters and iconic period fashion.

However, if displaying at the event wasn’t enough, Donna, alongside her two other florists, earned a top award while at the show.

Donna explained: “Hours of design meetings took place over several weeks, with a weekend of work to create the designs where we were then so honoured to win 'Most Creative Design' in the show.”
