STUDENTS at Launceston College are celebrating after the school’s Alternative Resource Base (ARB) saw a 100 per cent pass success.

The celebrations come after all 81 examination and coursework entries successfully passed and every year 11 leaver gained formal qualifications.

Students achieved qualifications across a broad range of subjects, including English, maths, science, IT, WorkSkills, humanities, Pre-Vocational Studies and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. One student also achieved an impressive Grade 8 in GCSE Art.

The school has expressed that these achievements extend beyond exam results, with students making significant progress in confidence, self-esteem, independence and resilience during their time at the ARB.

The college is also celebrating the destinations of its ARB leavers, with students progressing to a range of further education and vocational pathways. This includes one student moving on to Access Creative College in Plymouth to study IT, two students progressing to Duchy College to study vocational pathways and agriculture, and two students moving to St Austell College to study foundation learning programmes.

Matthew Thompson, principal at Launceston College has expressed his pride at the work of students and how they have grown during their time at the college.

He said: “We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our ARB students this year. What makes us most proud, however, is seeing how much our students have grown during their time with us. They have developed greater confidence, independence, resilience and belief in their own abilities, and it has been wonderful to see them take these qualities forward into their next steps.

“We are delighted to see our leavers progressing to a range of further education and vocational pathways, from IT and agriculture to foundation learning. We wish every one of them the very best for the future and are incredibly proud of what they have achieved.”
