IN SPITE of winter storms, over 20 people came to the February meeting of the St Minver Nostalgia Café. There was much laughter during the afternoon with Scottish themed photos, short films and songs, and everyone greatly enjoyed the introductory session of bingo called by one of the organising team — Wadebridge Rotary member, Martin Broadfoot.
Martin said: “Above all, we have great fun every month in a failure-free and relaxed atmosphere, with wonderful tea and cakes.”
The Nostalgia Café at St Minver started life in late 2018 with the impetus coming from another Wadebridge rotarian, Andrew Millington. Wadebridge Rotary and CRCC (Cornwall Rural Community Charity) provided initial funds and the Wadebridge Memory Cafe gave direct support and training in the early days.
Andrew said: “We are part of a country and county-wide organisation bringing care in the community to this area, helping those with memory concerns or loneliness, and supporting those who care for them.”
Andrew and the St Minver Nostalgia Café team look forward to seeing people on March 21 and every third Saturday of the month at the Perceval Institute, Menefreda Way, St Minver, Wadebridge, PL27 6QJ, from 2pm to 4pm.
