ST ENDELLION Parish Council has been given Listed Building Consent to reconfigure the public toilets on Roscarrock Hill, Port Issac.

The Grade II listed building is in the listed ‘Fish Cellar’ in the Port Issac conservation area. The parish council, which rents the toilets from Cornwall Council, wants to reconfigure the units from five separate male and female units to six unisex units with pay points on each door. The supporting design statement pointed out that the pay point on the current main access door can be held open to allow for visitors to use the facilities without paying which has made the upkeep of the building unsustainable.

n A PLAN by a couple to live in a caravan on a drive of a parent’s home at Polgrays, Station Hill, Eglokerry may be acceptable but with significant restrictions as to how it can be used.

Mike Skinner wants to live in the caravan whilst he and his partner save for a house and he asked for pre-application advice whether planning permission was needed. Giving advice, Development Officer Helen Trebilock said that the siting of a mobile home in the curtilage of a dwelling is permitted without the need for planning permission provided it was only used for ancillary accommodation (sleeping, hobbies) for family members and non-paying guests who rely on the main facilities of the house including the bathroom, taking meals and laundry facilities. If it was to be used as an independent unit of accommodation it would require planning permission. She added that due to its location in front of Polgrays, the lack of private amenity space, the size of the site and parking issues it would be unlikely to gain permission.

n A PLAN has been revealed to convert a barn into five homes at Higher Churchtown Farm, Tresmeer. The scheme will not involve any extension to the barn – it will be renovated and split into five units. Cornwall Council has been asked whether planning permission is needed for the development.

n A CHILDMINDER has applied for a Certificate of Lawfulness to use her home at Stanbridge Garden, Kilkhampton as a business.

n PLANNING has been applied for to convert and extend a barn studio conversion to create a home at Little Treforda, Delabole.

n A HOLIDAY chalet at 21, The Park, Penstowe Park, Kilkhampton has been given permission to operate 12 months of the year. The original permission dating back to 1964 had restricted use to up to ten months. In her application Katherine Longstaff said it would still be a holiday let with the same restrictions but that extending the letting season would enable her to make a profit and invest in the chalet.

n PERMISSION has been given for a shepherds’ hut for holiday accommodation, put on the site without consent, to remain at North Hackmarsh Farm, Morwenstow. The mobile hut has been there since 2019 and provides additional income to the applicant’s holiday letting business which assists the sustainable farming system on the 100 acre farm.
