RESIDENTS at Trecarrell and St John's Road, Launceston, have "overwhelmingly agreed" that their BT phone kiosks are not used and should be removed, says Launceston Town Council.

Town councillors conducted a door-to-door survey after British Telecom indicated it would cost £1 to keep a kiosk without a phone in it but the council would have to take it on as it was and maintain it forever. To keep a kiosk with a working phone would cost £500 each year as a contribution towards BT's costs.
