A LAUNCESTON man was sentenced to 90 days imprisonment at Liskeard Magistrates' Court on April 1 after pleading guilty to assault.
Radim Morkovsky, aged 23 of Kensey Valley Meadow, Launceston pleaded guilty to assaulting Kathleen Lewis at Launceston on November 23, 2008.
He was committed to prison for 90 days. Magistrates said the custodial sentence was imposed because the offence was so serious and because of the seriousness of the injuries which were sustained during a "prolonged incident." No compensation or costs were ordered.
Mr Morkovsky also admitted failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time, however no separate penalty was imposed.
