THERE is a new face in Launceston’s Neighbourhood Beat Team.

PCSO Gary Langan joined the town’s team last week, from Bude’s Neighbourhood Beat Team, after the departure of PCSO Danielle Hill, who is joining the police as a regular officer.

Mr Langan has been a PCSO since June of last year. He said he is ‘really enjoying’ working in Launceston.

“Bude was lovely but it was a long commute from where I live,” he said.

He lives in Devon and is a retained firefighter for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

He has been part of the Launceston Police Cadets since he started with the police, and has been one of the cadet leaders since August last year with the help of fellow PCSO Chris Krolik. PCSO Krolik is replacing PCSO Langan in Bude.

PCSO Langan said he always hears parents telling their children to behave or ‘the police will tell you off’, adding: “This is such a negative image of what we do. We want them to see us as safe people to speak to and know they can come up to us. I would encourage anyone — adults and children — to come and speak to us.”

If you or your children aged 13 to 17 are interested in joining Launceston Police Cadets send an email expressing your interest to [email protected] for the attention of PCSO Langan and PCSO Krolik and their details can be added to the waiting list.
