A KING Arthur fan is looking forward to his visit to Tintagel this August.

Gary Miller, who lives in Norfolk, is a self-proclaimed ‘massive King Arthur fan’, ever since watching John Boorman’s Excalibur.

As a child growing up in Bromley, Kent, Gary was fascinated by the adaptation of the legendary story. He said: “When I was a small boy many, many years ago in the 80s I remember seeing John Boorman’s Excalibur, I think at the time on Channel 4, and from that moment I wanted to know everything.

“Now I’m not a big reader, but when it came to King Arthur I read it or watched it. I think I have seen nearly every film about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and to be honest nothing comes close to Excalibur. Over the years I bought the soundtrack on vinyl, I have a few books, a replica on my wall and some small statues that you could get from the fantasy shops when they were about.”

Gary is such a big fan that he has dedicated his car to the legendary Cornish king. He will be coming to Tintagel at the end of August and is looking forward to delving into the world of King Arthur and the legend’s home turf.

“My car, when I first bought it, was white and there were not many white [Ford] Fiesta STs around, but there are a lot now and I like to be different so I was thinking of a theme and I thought, why not a tribute to John Boorman’s Excalibur and the best actor to ever play him, Nigel Terry?”

There is plenty of artwork on Gary’s Ford Fiesta ST dedicated to the ancient tale and the film he loves so dearly.

Thinking ahead to his trip to Cornwall this month, Gary added: “While in Tintagel I want to see the castle, of course, and Lancelot’s Chapel, plus I want to show my son. Being a single dad, I want him to know the things that are close to my heart, then at the end of August we have another car show!”
