LAUNCESTON in Bloom held a fun filled afternoon at the White Hart Hotel on Saturday to mark its 20th year celebrations.

The well-attended event started with the release of 20 colourful balloons in the Town Square, surrounded by thousands of flowers, colourful ribbons and banners.

The event was attended by Launceston's mayor and mayoress, Brian Hogan and Anita White. Cllr Hogan counted down to the release of the balloons.

The celebrations continued with Punch and Judy, a magic show, a juggler, balloon modeling, draws, tombola, lucky dip, cream teas and wonderful music.

There was a display of photographs showing the work that has been achieved by Launceston in Bloom during the 20 years.

Margaret Wills, chairman of Launceston in Bloom, said: "Our sincere thanks to all those who attended and to those who support us throughout the year with our events."

Recognition will be given to these people at the 20th year presentation event in November (see the Post for the date), where the photographs for this year and a selection from previous years will be on display.

The judging will take place in the next few weeks.

Margaret added: "Many thanks, once again, to all the wonderful people of Launceston, our fantastic committee and the White Hart Hotel for their wonderful kindness and consideration. It is much appreciated."
