A FARMER from the Blisland area, and equestrian coach, Celena Wolfe, has recently embarked on an exciting journey to the world finals of the ‘Face of the Globe’ beauty pageant in France.
Taking place in Disneyland Paris, Celena raised an astonishing £3,800 through different fundraising events, which was added to the overall sum of £118,000, raised by the entire 110 contestants that attended the pageant.
This donation will go towards the Rainbow Child Foundation, a charity very close to Celena’s heart due to the vast amount of poverty-stricken children in the UK.
Following this, Celena made the top ten in the fitness section, taking part in a ‘gruelling’ block fit class, featuring Chico from the X Factor. Celena earned third place overall in the army-style knock outs, with the contestants having to squat whilst carrying people on their backs, and shuttle run whilst carrying people over their shoulders.
Additionally, Celena came sixth in the Photogenic section, eighth in Congenitally, and fourth in the Formal Interview category during her time at the Face of the Globe world finals.
Celena began her journey through the world of pageantry around eleven years ago, to show bullies that had tormented her in the past that she had made something of herself, going on to win Miss County of Cornwall in 2005, and representing Cornwall in Miss England.
Celena’s work as an equestrian coach has enabled her to come across all kinds of non-horse related issues, which inspires her to do all she can to help and motivate others. Her biggest concern is the constant pressures of social media and television and how it may affect young people, potentially creating eating and food relationship problems.
Inspiring body confidence in young girls is something Celena focuses on, whilst slamming the idea that beauty pageants are just for ‘mean girls’ covered head-to-toe in makeup and sparkles.
Celena said: “Tell me, who are the mean girls? And who do people think they are to judge? The beauty industry is one of the hugest in the world, yet it’s frowned upon to look great and to use it to get somewhere. Do people have to apologise for being good at sports, computer science, or cooking? No, so why is pageantry and modeling different?
“Most girls come up against this constantly, and yet have the strength to carry on and support others who have had one too many negative attacks to deal with. Meeting and becoming a family with the pageant girls from all over the world is amazing and uplifting.”
Recently, Celena has moved her skills from equestrian coaching to modeling and pageant coaching, which enables her to ‘sow the seeds of confidence and courage’ into young people suffering at the cruel hands of school bullies, or those who have little self-belief.
According to Celena, the ‘Face of the Globe’ pageant allowed her to build on these skills, being given a platform to put on fundraising events for the charity, the Rainbow Child Foundation.
Overall, Celena raised £3,800 for this charity, something that is very close to her heart, having grown up in poverty herself and seeing the effects of poverty on young people.
Since stepping down and crowning the next Inspiration Woman UK, Celena and a fellow 2015 sister, Queen Rachel Metcalfe from Somerset, are now running the Miss Inspiration South West England regionals.
The pageant will be held in Exeter on October 29 this year; Celena and Rachel are looking for contestants from the age of six and up, with no age limit, who are ‘inspiring’.
With no pageantry in this area of the South West, pageantry is a massively growing movement further up in the country. Only teenage groups and up will be allowed to wear makeup, with the focus of the pageant being on natural beauty.
Celena’s next goal is to represent Cornwall in the Galaxy UK pageant in March 2017, hoping to go on to the Galaxy International in America, which is considered the ninth top pageant in the world.
Moreover, Celena is also in talks with Bodmin College about introducing a beauty event with the students, which could include a glamorous James Bond themed evening.
Celena’s time at the Face of the Globe pageant in France has made a great impact on her life. She added: “I have learnt so much about myself and the lessons in life to make me a proactive person, how to use my strength and how to overcome my weaknesses. It’s been such a huge journey of self discovery.”
