FOUR days of top entertainment is coming to Bude with the return of the popular Jazz Festival this September.

Now in its 28th year, the event, which is once again sponsored by St Austell Brewery’s popular Tribute ale, welcomes over 40 local and national acts to the North Cornwall town for a mix of traditional and New Orleans jazz.

One of the highlights of the festival, British jazz musician Digby Fairweather will be taking to the stage with his band the Half Dozen, hoping to draw big crowds as the opening headline act.

The seasoned trumpeter is well known in jazz circles, performing his own style of music since 1977. Digby is also a well-known broadcaster, having taking to the airwaves with BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM as well as winning a host of awards and founding the National Jazz Archive.

Mr Fairweather, said: “The last time I was there was quite a few years ago. And this time the whole band will be there, which is really great.

“So get set for a dynamite opening to the festival and make sure you book early as the place will be packed.”

St Austell Brewery’s Trade Marketing Manager Marc Bishop, said the company was proud to be involved with such a well-loved event.

“The Bude Jazz Festival has been going strong for 28 years and is a real highlight for local music fans and those from further afield and we are pleased to be part of such a well-loved event.

“St Austell Brewery strives to support our region and has long been associated with performing arts and live music in the South West.”

The Bude Jazz Festival takes place from September 1 to 4.
