The County Ladies Championships were held at St Enodoc Golf Club. Four ladies represented Launceston Golf Club, Wendy Collins, Barbara Murton, Micah Carroll, and Jan Harrison.
Tuesday, a fine day, was a 36 hole medal qualifying round with Micah going through to the Championship, and Jan through to the Plate,
Wednesday after heavy overnight rain it was a beautiful sunny day, unfortunately Micah was beaten on the 19th hole by Rachael Phillips (Tehidy Park), but Jan went on to beat Collette Burgess (Bude) 6&5, also Pat MacMichael (Tehidy Park) 6&5, Jan's putter being red hot, and playing extremely well, which took her to the semi finals on Thursday when a strong south easterly wind and sometimes driving rain made play difficult when she played Meg Godfrey (St Enodoc) but had a 5/3 win. Jan was now in the finals of the Plate against Bev Vann from St Enodoc this
was a great match closely contested, Jan just losing out on the last putt for Bev to win 1 up.
Three great days of golf Jan, well done to all the ladies that took part on this challenging course, not forgetting the caddies, Liz Hicks, David Carroll, Teona Chegwyn, and Helen Davey.

The Peggy Gillard Trophy was played for on April 13, lucky for some!! Twenty eight mixed pairs with partners drawn, the weather fine to start with but deteriorated as the afternoon progressed. But this didn't deter some good scores being recorded. 1st, R. Squires and G. Grigg 39pts; 2nd, D. Downing and P. Leaver 39pts on count back; 3rd, B Pickett and V. Raine 36pts; 4th, M Perkins and J Harding 36pts on count back. There was only one 2 M Atwill and M Garvin. This was an excellent entry and many players socialising over a meal afterwards in the clubhouse. Helen Davey.
