STANHOPE Park was filled with a kaleidoscope of colour as Holsworthy’s second ‘Colour-Me-Happy’ sponsored fundraising event took place in support of The Long House.

More than 250 people of all ages, plus several dogs, came out on Sunday to collect their pot of bio-degradable coloured powder and have a fun time at this unique, yet messy, celebration of colour.

Participants were able to have burgers and hot dogs, supplied by a Holsworthy Lions stall, before being given instructions from North Devon Hospice fundraiser Jenny Richardson.

They were then given an energetic warm-up to music provided by Tarka Radio before setting off in a frenzy of colour across the 3km route around the park, down Dobles lane to The Long House — which only opened a month ago.

Some participants ran the whole route, a few skipped or hopped, but most just walked and talked.

Along the way marshals, who included three of Holsworthy’s PCSOs, showered them with more powder so many returning to the park were completely covered in a rainbow of colour.

Jenny Richardson said: “There is something special about Colour Me Happy that just makes people laugh and smile. The atmosphere was electric and everyone had an amazing time.

“I’d like to thank all those who made it possible, including Holsworthy Town Council, Holsworthy Lions, Farmer Tom’s Ice Cream and all those who took part.”

‘Colour Me Happy’ was a community event that brought everyone together for a fun and unique day, but more importantly was a great way to help raise funds to support the new hospice facility in the town to provide the care and support offered by North Devon Hospice closer to home.
