THE Rotary Club of Bude held its tenth Great Atlantic Charity Walk from Crooklets Beach on Sunday.
Walkers enjoyed full sunshine for their 3km beach ramble from Crooklets Beach to Sandymouth Bay and inland to the South West Coastal path for the return to Crooklets. With more than 100 walkers, it was a friendly, sociable occasion for the many organisations and charities represented, who were raising funds by sponsorship. A cup is awarded to the club that raises the most for their funds.
This year the start was earlier than usual at 11am because of the time of low tide and the first walkers home took less than one and a half hours.
Thanks to the usual willing assistance from the Surf Lifesaving Club, RNLI and the ladies of the Inner Wheel, everything went smoothly and all starters checked out safely.
It is likely that over £1,500 will be collected for the funds of the local clubs and charities as a result of the walkers’ sponsorships.
As part of the Great Atlantic Walk, Margaret Frost, of Rustic Gardens Cream Teas at Northcott Mouth, gave all money raised on the day from her food and drink sales to Bude Town Band.
