A LAUNCESTON Girl Guides volunteer has been nominated and selected by the Cornwall Lieutenancy to attend part of the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May.

Emma Boucher, from Launceston, who volunteers with the local Girl Guides, was delighted to receive a letter that informed her that she had been nominated and selected to attend the morning procession of the wedding on Saturday, May 19. Nominated by the Cornwall Lieutenancy due to the ‘strength of your contribution to the local community in Cornwall’, Emma will be one of 1,200 members of the public who have also been nominated to attend, and will also be able to bring a guest of their choice.

With the big day approaching fast, Emma was delighted to know she would be able to share in part of the exciting event.

HRH Prince Henry of Wales, youngest son of HRH Prince Charles and popularly known as Prince Harry, will marry the former American actress, Meghan Markle, on Saturday, May 19.

As part of her attendance, Emma will be invited into the grounds of Windsor Castle between 8am and 9.45am to watch the arrival of guests, listen to the live broadcast of the service and watch as Prince Harry and Ms Markle depart via carriage.

Emma said: “I was absolutely thrilled and excited when I got the letter through the door after work at the end of last week. I felt truly honoured to be nominated and then chosen from lots of nominations from around Cornwall. I will be part of 1,200 members of the public who have been nominated for their contribution to the local community. This, for me, has been for my volunteering work with the Girl Guides.”

Emma is looking forward to visiting the grounds of Windsor Castle to see the arrival of the guests, as well as listening to the live broadcast of the wedding service and being able to see Prince Harry and Ms Markle’s carriage procession.

Emma continued: “I would like to thank everyone who has helped to make this happen for me. I will look forward to sharing the experience with all my family, friends and Guiding members afterwards.

“I have chosen to take Beth Martin with me, who is a great friend, but also gives lots of her time to the Girl Guides and supports me in my role. We have booked our train tickets and accommodation for two nights. Now we just need something to wear — what does one wear to the royal wedding?”
